FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Specialized TMJ massage therapist answers questions about insurance, intraoral massage and TMJ pain releif.

Why do I need a referral? Ohio licensed massage therapists must have a referral to do specialized massage for TMJ treatment, including intraoral massage.

Who can give me a referral? Referrals for TMJ & Orofacial massage can be provided by a dentist, chiropractor, physical therapist or other medical practicioner.

Do you take insurance? I do not take insurance. However, some insurances do provide reimbursement for massage therapy.

Do you treat children? Yes! I treat patients of any age. If a patient is under the age of 18, extra consent forms will need to be completed prior to the appointment and a parent/guardian will need to stay with them during the treatment.

What is intraoral massage? Intraoral massage is the practice of using a gloved hand to massage muscles inside the mouth that are not easily accessed from the outside.

Should I tip for my massage? No. This service is considered a medical/clinical service and is priced accordingly. Tips are not expected.

Do you do general full body massages? I no longer do full body wellness or sports massage. If you're looking for a new massage therapist, use the "Find a Therapist" option at www.AMTAmassage.org.
